A Prayer for the World

I wrote this prayer for the world thinking of a few kabbalistic concepts. I thought about how the kabbalah imagines the world was created by the breaking of vessels that God made to organize God’s energies, and about the emanations that constitute the Tree of Life.

Eternal source of all beauty and love
I ask your blessing for our world,
that needs so much of Your attention.
We continue to hurt each other,
to fight for baseless reasons,
trying to acquire power without limits.
Garbage patches in our oceans,
drought, famine, and fires in our land
do not seem to move us in the direction of change.
Some human beings have too much,
others too little.
Some human beings think that they have to control
other human beings that are of ______
(and now fill in the blank: a different creed, a different color, a different gender, a different way of thinking…)
Our world needs tikkun,
needs repair,
needs healing.
As we exalt You who has established us,
I pray that You pour Your energy on us,
that you share Your Wisdom, Your Knowledge, and Your Understanding,
opening the hearts of all humanity to value and protect the world.
I pray that You bestow on us Your Love/Mercy as a gentle breeze,
that You give us Strength to withstand the difficult moments,
in order to bring Harmony, Compassion, and Grace to this world.
May we be filled with gratitude for the blessings we have,
and with our hearts full of awe and wonder
fully experience the beauty that surround us.
May we add to the beauty of our world,
may we be mindful of the needs of others
and the validity of our needs.
May we be able to gather the sparks of energy
and send them back to their source
so they can come back and infuse the world with goodness.
May we gather the shards to restore the broken vessels of your creation
to a state of unity.
May Your world be peaceful, filled with love and compassion.
May we have respect for each other and for all of Creation.
May we and our world be safe, be happy, be peaceful, be free from pain and suffering,
and let us say Amen
