A Poem: I Dread the Day

This week we welcome Laura Hill, who shares a poem she created in honor of her Simchat Mitzvah, the day when she celebrated her adult approach to Jewish life, on the Torah portions of Tazria-Metzora.

I dread the day
Of separation,
Sorrow,
Loneliness,
Of lying to myself that I am alone,
That you can’t possibly care.
For that lie weighs on me more than I can bear,
More than I can tell.
Let it be known,
To the depths of my soul,
That you are with me
At all times
And being away from you
Is nothing but a mere illusion.
May the wholeness
Of Truth
Find rest in my heart.
Today,
Always.
