Our next stop in the examination of the Tree of Life is Netzach. Netzach can be translated as victory and as eternity. This is the sefirah in which our actions and our achievements draw the power to continue, where we find the endurance to face all the challenges that we will inevitably have to confront.
Netzach is where we find the reservoirs of perseverance to allow our creativity to flow and the strength to persist on the path that will ensure we bring our designs to fruition. In every creative process there is always a moment when we feel that we will give up. We encounter the darkness of self-doubt, of pessimism, of listening to the loud inner speeches of defeat and failure. If we listen to this message, we will not achieve our goals. The counterpart to this message is the light of Netzach, the energy that helps us listen to the voice inside of us that taps into the reservoirs of endurance needed to achieve all that is possible. Those victories give us a glimpse of what can be, of the enduring nature of our vision and of our achievements, the little moments of eternity.
The creativity that we encounter in Netzach is not limited to artistic pursuits. We need creativity to maintain and improve our relationships in our families, in our communities, and in our world. The sefirah of Netzach provides us with the persistence needed to cultivate them, the confidence and the trust in the process, the strength to overcome stumbling blocks. The paths for a fulfilling life can be tortuous. Netzach provides us with the creativity to navigate these paths and with the ability to feel the pleasure in finding the warrior inside of us that will lead us to victory.
I believe all of us have experienced a moment (or maybe many moments) where we were on the brink of great despair, of contemplating the abyss, unable to step away from it. For me, it took the consciousness that I could focus on the sefirah of Netzach to have the strength to overcome these difficulties and the creativity to design and implement a new plan for my life.
Netzach compels us to take personal risks based on our convictions. Netzach opens our eyes to see the future as it expands the ways in which we can grow, imagining that we can create new realities, having the certainty we can use our leadership skills and have the ability to make it happen.
According to Rabbi Moshe Cordovero, a 16th century Kabbalist from Tzfat, in his book Tomer Devorah, the color of the sefirah of Netzach is light pink. Experiment with a meditation practice that involves a light pink light permeating your whole being, giving you the inner conviction to embark in your quests, bringing out your bravery and your resolution, the power of your heart and of your story that will contribute to the greater good. And use the gifts of this sefirah to celebrate all your conquests, all your achievements, great and small.
